Storms come and go, but they usually leave behind a mess. In 2017, Rochester, Monroe County and the surrounding counties experienced a windstorm that tore through the region. The storm occurred in early March of 2017, and recorded some of the highest in-land wind speeds in the area on record. In some areas, including downtown Rochester, winds reached an average of 70-80 mph, gusting at a margin of 10-12 mph. This resulted in one of the most damaging storms in the Rochester area in recent history, leaving the area without power. Most of the damage was caused by trees and debris falling. Unfortunately most of the damage caused by trees or debris ended up breaking water pipes or leaving an opening in infrastructure for water to cause further damage. Everyone expects a storm here and there, but there's no one person who could've been ready for this storm.
An added kicker to think about is that this storm was caused primarily by the appearance of the sun, which is a rare occurrence during the Winter months. So, many were probably delighted to see the sun that day, until it was announced that the sun was the primary influencing factor of such a catastrophic event. However, rain or shine SERVPRO of NW Monroe County is here for the worst storms, big or small.
